Plagiarism Policy

Cuadernos de Historia Cultural is committed to maintaining high standards of academic integrity and does not tolerate plagiarism, academic misconduct, or the inappropriate appropriation of another person's work or ideas. All manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original and prepared in accordance with accepted standards of scholarly ethics.

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, presenting another author's words, ideas, arguments, data, images, interpretations, or other intellectual contributions as one's own without appropriate acknowledgment. It also includes substantial unattributed copying, close paraphrasing without proper citation, inappropriate reuse of previously published material, and other forms of academic misrepresentation. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all material derived from other sources is properly cited and referenced.

Submitted manuscripts may be examined using appropriate plagiarism-detection and similarity-checking procedures. A similarity report may be used as one part of the editorial assessment; however, similarity percentages alone do not determine whether plagiarism has occurred. Legitimate quotations, references, commonly used terminology, bibliographic information, and other properly attributed material may contribute to similarity results.

Authors should not submit manuscripts that have been published previously or are simultaneously under consideration by another journal. Significant reuse of an author's own previously published material without appropriate disclosure and citation may be considered self-plagiarism or redundant publication and may result in editorial action.

If substantial plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct are identified before publication, the manuscript may be rejected. Depending on the circumstances, the editorial team may request an explanation from the authors and may take further appropriate action.

If plagiarism or serious unattributed overlap is discovered after publication, the journal may investigate the matter and take appropriate corrective action. Such action may include issuing a correction, expression of concern, or retraction, depending on the nature and seriousness of the violation. Relevant institutions or other appropriate parties may be notified where necessary.

Authors are expected to cooperate fully with any investigation concerning suspected plagiarism or academic misconduct. Providing inaccurate information, concealing relevant circumstances, or refusing to cooperate may itself be considered a breach of publication ethics.

Reviewers and editors also have a responsibility to alert the editorial team if they identify substantial similarity, unattributed material, or other potential ethical concerns during the review process. All allegations will be handled as objectively and confidentially as reasonably possible.

By submitting a manuscript to Cuadernos de Historia Cultural, authors confirm that their work has been prepared with appropriate academic integrity and that all sources and contributions of others have been properly acknowledged.
